Talley’s is proudly New Zealand owned and operated. We run six deep sea fishing vessels with primarily Kiwi crews bringing the best New Zealand seafood to the world. Right now, we’re looking for someone to join our longline vessel for a trip on the FV Janas as the Second Engineer for their next voyage commencing approximately the start of November 2024 for the annual ice trip.

About the role
The successful applicant must hold a minimum of a MEC5 (or equivalent) Ticket and at least 1 years’ experience on similar vessels.
In this role you will take direction from the Chief Engineer and be responsible for carrying out watch keeping duties, maintenance of the ship's machinery, equipment and structure.
This is a position that works on average a 12-hour day, seven days a week for the duration of the voyage (60 – 100 days). This schedule will be determined and may be subject to change.
Skills/Experience Needed
· Commitment to preventative maintenance systems
· MEC 5 Ticket
· A high standard and awareness to health and safety
· Great attention to detail and a high level of enthusiasm
· Ability to communicate well and build good relationships
· Having proven experience working on fishing vessels is essential
· Problem solving skills
· Supervisory and training experience
